Bridge Day™ Rappel Selection Process

Thank you for your interest in rappelling off the New River Gorge Bridge this year on Bridge Day, Saturday, October 20, 2007.  This page outlines the application and selection process that will determine who will participate in the 2007 Bridge Day Rappel.

The 2007 Bridge Day Rappel will:

  1. Consist of twenty-two (22) teams of from twelve to fourteen participants who will be allowed to ascend and/or descend a fixed rope from the catwalk beneath the Bridge.
  2. The deadline for applications is Friday, June 1.
  3. The lottery drawing will be Friday, June 15.
  4. The deadline for substitutions to those teams selected for Bridge Day will be Monday, August 24.
  5. Bridge Day registration will be from noon until 6 PM on Friday, October 19.
  6. There will be an organization meeting which everyone must attend on Friday, October 19 at 6:30 PM.

You must do the following if you wish to enter the lottery:

  1. Identify a group leader who will be responsible for disseminating information to the group members.
  2. Return a completed application for each member.
  3. Submit a personal photo for each member with his/her application.
  4. Enclose a non-refundable $129 per application.
  5. Enclose a non-refundable $150 team fee.
