Whether you wish to tackle world class WV whitewater rafting on two amazing rivers, rock climb and scale the many faces in the New River Gorge, or recieve instruction on proper kayak or climbing techniques, Passages to Adventure, located in the mountains of West Virginia, is the perfect site to launch any number of adventures. Here you can find all the information you need for whitewater rafting, rock climbing, or other outdoor activity. Passages offers dozens of different outdoor activities tailored to any individual or group whether you decide on whitewater rafting, rock climbing, or kayaking. The majority of our West Virginia white water rafting adventures are done on either the New River or the Gauley River. Our rock climbing activities, which include rappelling and the tyrolean traverse, take place in the gorgeous WV New River Gorge with a scenic view overlooking the New River. Our location, just off Route 19 in Fayetteville, WV, is the perfect site to launch your adventures as you'll spend less time traveling and more time white water rafting, climbing, kayaking, or any of the other things you came to West Virginia to do. Within minutes from our rustic post-and-beam headquarters, you can be rafting America's best white water rivers or climbing a rock face overlooking the New River Gorge in the majestic mountains of WV.

Family Activities in the New River Gorge

	Gauley Season
Beginning September 8th you can raft the Gauley River, one of the most exhilerating rivers you can find anywhere. In o ne day you can experience 26 miles of whitewater containing more than 100 rapids. No place outside WV offers so much whitewater rafting on one river all in one day. Of course you don't have to cram so much whitewater in one day. You can experience the different sections of the Gauley River by selecting a one or two day adventure package, depending totally on how leisurely you want your trip to be. Make no mistake, though; within minutes of beginning your Gauley River rafting adventure, you’ll be paddling up, over, and through gigantic waves; down turbulent chutes into massive, white water holes; or over a gigantic 12-foot waterfall.
	Upper Gauley
To experience the most exhilarating section of the Gauley River, the Upper Gauley is the adventure for you. You'll experience the best whitewater rafting Fayetteville, WV has to offer, and some of the best white water in the world! All participants on the Upper Gauley should be in good physical condition; we request that you have had some previous paddling experience before experiencing this adventure.
	Lower Gauley
The Lower Section of the Gauley River is characterized by huge waves and is often considered a whitewater roller coaster. The Lower Gauley is the perfect trip for beginners and seasoned paddlers alike. Do the Lower Gauley on day one of your adventure, and the next day you’ll be ready for WV’s most exciting adventure, rafting the Upper Gauley.

One day every year, the world's second longest, single-arch bridge is closed as Fayette County hosts West Virginia 's largest one-day festival. Vendors line the side of the road as thousands of visitors flock to the New River Gorge Bridge to watch base jumpers parachute off the center of the bridge and rappellers dangle beneath the bridge as they descend to the ground below. Passages offers a unique view of the festival that few WV visitors have the opportunity to experience. Join us; raft the New River in the morning and arrive at Fayette Station with plenty of time to watch the festivities from the river beneath the bridge.
